Fluorescent Light Therapy
NEW WAYS TO SPEED HEALING

Ask RAPS Animal Hospital Vet Team about Fluorescent Light Therapy

REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT

RAPS Animal Hospital is now offering Phovia® Fluorescent Light Therapy System.

Fluorescent light photobiomodulation uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate cellular processes and promote healing in animals.

Here is how it works ...

Picture
Cellular Effects

When specific wavelengths of fluorescent light are applied to injured tissues, the light is absorbed by the cells. This absorption triggers a series of biochemical reactions within the cells, leading to various therapeutic effects. A key effect is an increase in cellular energy production through the stimulation of mitochondria, which are the energy powerhouses of cells. This increased energy can enhance cellular function and accelerate healing processes.

Anti-Inflammatory Response

Fluorescent light therapy can help reduce inflammation in injured tissues. It has been observed to decrease the production of pro-inflammatory mediators while promoting the release of anti-inflammatory substances. By reducing inflammation, the therapy can alleviate pain, swelling, and discomfort associated with injuries.

Enhanced Circulation

The application of fluorescent light can improve blood circulation in the treated area. This increased blood flow can enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the injured tissues, as well as facilitate the removal of metabolic waste products. Improved circulation helps support the healing process by supplying essential resources to the cells and promoting tissue regeneration.

Accelerated Tissue Repair

Fluorescent light therapy has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that plays a crucial role in wound healing and tissue repair. Collagen provides structural support and promotes the formation of new blood vessels and healthy tissue. By accelerating collagen synthesis, the therapy can aid in the regeneration of damaged tissues and the closure of wounds.

Pain Reduction

Fluorescent light therapy has analgesic properties, meaning it can help alleviate pain. It is thought to modulate nerve activity and reduce the transmission of pain signals, leading to pain relief in the treated area.

Fluorescent light photobiomodulation is commonly used in veterinary medicine to aid in the healing of various conditions, including musculoskeletal injuries, wounds, dermatological issues, and post-surgical recovery. The specific parameters of light therapy, such as the wavelength, intensity, and treatment duration, may vary depending on the nature and severity of the injury, as well as the species and individual characteristics of the animal.
